About us
Food is easier to use when you know what to do with it.
NOURISH-Durham is a community food and nutrition programme serving Durham County, North Carolina.
What we do
We run free food distributions across Durham and pair them with the practical support that makes fresh produce genuinely usable: recipes built around what is actually being handed out, plain-language nutrition guidance, and community events where people cook together.
All of it lives in one free mobile app, so a household can see where the next distribution is, what produce to expect, and what to make with it — without piecing that together from flyers, phone calls and social media posts.
Why an app
Distribution schedules change. Produce varies week to week. Printed schedules go stale the moment a site moves, and a phone tree does not scale. The app is how the programme stays accurate: the team updates a distribution once and everybody sees it immediately, including a reminder before it opens.
How it works
- Distributions, events, recipes and nutrition content are managed by our team day to day.
- The app reflects those updates straight away — there is nothing to re-publish.
- Logging what you eat is entirely optional, and always private to you.
Who it's for
Anyone in Durham County. The app is free, there is no eligibility form to fill in before you can see where and when distributions are happening, and you do not need an account to browse nutrition content.
